On July 14, 2020 the Bourbon Town Council promoted Officer Carl Amsden to the rank of Sergeant. Amsden joined the Bourbon Police Dept. full time in August 2016 having served as Reserve Officer for Bourbon prior to his hiring. Carl served his Country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps seeing action in Iraq.
Carl also serves the Town of Bourbon as a volunteer firefighter.

Bourbon Police say they tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation at Gumwood Road and Lincoln Highway around 1:00 a.m., but the vehicle fled. Officers reportedly pursued the vehicle at speeds over 100 miles per hour, before it wrecked on Gumwood Road south of 15th Road.
