Bremen Public Schools Wellness Plan is Aimed at Promoting Healthy Behaviors
Bremen Public School officials discussed the corporation’s wellness plan during Monday night’s school board meeting. Superintendent Dr. Jim White said that reviewing this plan is an annual requirement.
In the plan, it is mentioned that the Bremen Public School Corporation is committed to providing an environment that promotes and protects children’s health, well-being and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity.

Driver’s Failure to Yield to Right of Way Causes Collision Wednesday Afternoon
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a collision at the intersection of Veterans Parkway and US 31 in Plymouth shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to a police report, Jason Allen Henderson from South Bend was traveling southbound on the exit ramp for U.S 31 driving a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox.
He was reportedly heading toward the intersection with Veterans Parkway when he failed to stop for the sign and failed to yield to the right of way of a 2011 International Semi Tractor driven by Plymouth resident Mark Zimmerman. Continue reading
Marshall County Community Foundation Assists Several Local Organizations with More than $96,000 in Grant Funding
The Marshall County Community Foundation held an awards presentation in Plymouth on Wednesday where recipients for the second round of 2018 Community Fund grants were announced.

Bremen High School Officials Discuss Graduation Pathways with School Board
This year’s eighth-grade students will have a whole new set of rules to keep in mind when it comes to obtaining a diploma. Bremen School Board members learned more about these changes when they met this week.

The Bremen School Board authorized an appointment for the Bremen Public Library Board when members met on Monday.

TIF Resolution Considered by Argos Redevelopment and Planning Commissions
A TIF Resolution that was prepared by Argos Town Attorney Derek Jones was presented to Redevelopment Commission and Planning Commission members last week.

Triton School Board Adopts 2019 Budget, Approves Associated Resolutions
The 2019 Budget for Triton Community Schools was adopted when school board members met on Monday.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle noted that in addition to adopting the budget, school board members passed a resolution that would allow him and the school business manager to adjust the funds as necessary. Argos Police Officers to Work 8 Hour Shifts Until Remaining Positions Are Filled
When the Argos Town Council met last Wednesday, they were informed about a recent resignation on the police force.
Police Chief Corey Bowman presented a letter of resignation on behalf of Officer Donald Davis. Draft minutes provided by Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney indicate that all officers on the department will be working 8 hours shifts until the positions are filled. Continue reading

Triton School Board Approves Ratified Teachers Contract
The Triton School Board approved the ratified the collective bargaining agreement for certified teachers when members met on Monday.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said that as a part of the new contract, all teachers will receive a $1,500 increase to their base pay plus an additional $500 that goes toward insurance. Continue reading
Argos Town Superintendent Discusses Wastewater Plant Projects with Town Council
Argos Town Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom informed the Town Council about some renovation work needed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant when members met last Wednesday.
Lindstrom informed the council that he received a few different bids for some roof work that is needed at the plant. He didn’t provide a specific figure but after reviewing the companies he recommended Kolar Konstruction for the job. He also told the members that there is a stairway project that needs to be done. Triton School Corporation Sees Increase in Enrollment
Enrollment numbers are up at Triton Community Schools. Superintendent Jeremy Riffle shared there are more than 20 new students attending Triton according to this year’s average daily membership count.
Riffle said that while the ADM is a bit subjective because it only provides a snapshot of one day, school officials are still excited about the increase. He said it’s especially encouraging since there’s been a projection floating around that low birthrates would affect school enrollment numbers. Continue reading

Monday Evening Crash Results in One Fatality
A vehicle collision that occurred in Marshall County on Monday resulted in one fatality.
Shortly after 5 p.m. on October 8th, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was notified about a personal injury crash in the area of U.S. 6 and Quince Road. Polk Township Fire Department, EMS, Marshall County Police and the Indiana State Police responded to the crash. Continue reading
