Triton Superintendent Discusses School Safety

Safety is a matter that Triton school officials take seriously year-round.

That’s according to Superintendent Jeremy Riffle who noted that while it is important to recognize when major events occur and take them seriously, that can’t be the only time that officials are working to address safety matters.

Riffle explained, “If we only worked on school safety when something bad happened, then we would be in big trouble and so we’re constantly looking at that.”

Riffle said that in an effort to improve safety, staff members were recently equipped with some radios that will improve communication in case of an emergency

He noted, “We’ve actually purchased radios for the entire corporation, all of our busses, to make sure that we’re on the same frequency as the emergency management system and local law enforcement so essentially with the click of a button we can communicate with them freely.”

Additionally, Triton officials are in the process of finalizing their emergency preparedness plan by coordinating with emergency management personnel and local law enforcement. They’re also collaborating with other area educators so there will be a consistent emergency plan amongst all Marshall County schools.
