The Plymouth Fire Department responded to a fire at AK Industries this morning.
According to Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller, the fire was contained to the room where it started. Miller said resin caught fire by an electrical static charge. The fire was quickly extinguished.
One employee was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
A trial date has not been set yet for a Plymouth man suspected of holding a woman against her will and brandishing a handgun threatening to kill himself and pointing that weapon at police.
On Friday, May 26, Vincent Carnegie allegedly forced a woman from her home in the 11,000 block of Michigan Street and later hid from police in a tree line at a location on King Road. He was reportedly hiding after hearing police were looking for him over the scanner.
The Culver Town Council will again discuss the proposal for the Culver Movie Theater to include as a town project in the Stellar Communities Designation Program.
The Culver Redevelopment Commission met on Monday, July 17 to consider a proposal from SRKM Architects, but ultimately rejected the project by a 3-2 vote.
Several ongoing projects with the Plymouth Utility Department are on schedule.
Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson reported to the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety that the wastewater treatment plant is about 70 percent complete. Process equipment start-up was successful and the next major phase is going on this week. The company is ahead of schedule and will be substantially complete by November.

A drug tip led to the arrest of three people in Plymouth for dealing in marijuana.
Troopers with the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section received information from the Illinois State Police about a possible marijuana deal in Plymouth. Police set up surveillance at the location and arrested those allegedly involved.
Formal charges are pending against Donald Dickson, Jr. who allegedly led police on a vehicle pursuit and held a woman against her will.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Dickson led police on a chase after he did not stop when a Bremen police officer attempted to pull him over for speeding in the area of West Shore Drive at Lake of the Woods on Saturday evening. The officer noted in the document that the pursuit covered 17.1 miles and speeds reached in excess of 100 mph at times. Police say the driver did not stop at any posted stop signs, disregarded a hidden intersection and drove through three residential yards. Court documents indicate that people were enjoying a large family gathering when Dickson allegedly traveled through the event at a high rate of speed. No one was injured.
The Triton Community School Corporation and the Marshall County Community Foundation have come together to help Triton students further their education with scholarship opportunities in the trades industry.
Plymouth City Police Chief David Bacon presented the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members with a solution to a traffic flow issue on school days around the Lincoln Jr. High School.
Chief Bacon said Mayor Mark Senter and City Attorney Sean Surrisi met with the Director of Safety and Security and the Transportation Director from the school corporation to address traffic issues. He said traffic gets snarled around the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up portions of the school day at Lincoln Jr. High School.
“Traffic gets backed up on Gibson onto Liberty so we looked at ways to remedy that,” said Chief Bacon. “One solution is no parking on the south side of Gibson from Liberty Street to the circle drive. That will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days only.”
The Plymouth City Council members held a public hearing Monday night to hear comments on the proposed vacation of Water Street.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi mentioned that the city’s action is for the benefit of the River Gate South housing project. The road would be vacated from the Yellow River to east Lake Ave. Surrisi said the city owns all of the adjacent lots in the area, but the only concern is the utilities under that road.
The Culver Town Council held a public hearing Tuesday night to hear comments on the appropriation of funds for a new ambulance.
Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim explained that the new ambulance is arriving soon but the money wasn’t earmarked in the budget for the replacement of an older truck. Heim said the older ambulance was overdue for replacement. It will be sold with the proceeds to be split between the town and Union Township.
Indiana Department of Transportation crews will be repairing and repaving sections of U.S. 6 between U.S. 31 and State Road 106 in Marshall County beginning Friday, July 28 through Monday, July 31.
Officials say U.S. 6 will be open to all through traffic, but restricted to one lane in both directions. Drivers should be aware that delays may occur and extra time should be allowed for travel in this area.
One person was arrested on Saturday night after leading several police agencies on a vehicle pursuit and a standoff in Marshall County.
An officer with the Bremen Police Department reportedly attempted a traffic stop in the area of West Shore Drive at Lake of the Woods. Police say the driver, Donald Dickson, Jr., refused to stop and led the officer on a pursuit on 4th Road. The 20-minute pursuit ended after Dickson lost control of his car and crashed into a cornfield at the intersection of Hickory Road and 9B Road, according to police.
The Plymouth City Council members will gather public comments on a proposal to impose a wheel tax to help bridge a budget gap in 2018 and beyond.
Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained that the bond rating for the 2017 lease rental bonds was an A+, but Standard and Poor noted that the city’s decision to increase public safety salaries with reserves money this year will put the city’s budget in a $500,000 gap for 2018.
To remedy this, it was the Standard and Poor’s recommendation to raise new revenue.
The Culver Town Council will meet tonight where discussions will continue surrounding the Stellar Communities Designation Program.
A public hearing is scheduled to gather comments on several additional appropriations. An ordinance to approve those additional appropriations will be discussed on first reading. Town Manager Jonathan Leist will have a report along with other department heads. Representatives from various boards and commissions will provide updates for the town council.

According to task force statistics, sobriety checkpoints have proven successful in both raising awareness of impaired driving and reducing the likelihood of a person driving after they’ve been drinking.
A South Bend man was arrested Saturday evening after Bremen Police reportedly found him in possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police say a traffic stop was conducted on State Road 106 west of Miami Road in Bremen and during the investigation the officer found the blue Saturn passenger car was stolen out of Elkhart County.
Plymouth Police Department detectives are searching for a suspect who reportedly stole a trailer and shop equipment from the Auto Park Service Center in Plymouth.
Police say a break-in occurred at the company at 201 Airport Road in the overnight hours on Wednesday, July 19. A 2011 flatbed JB Enterprises trailer with the license plate number TR928ATN was stolen. Shop equipment that was on the trailer was also taken.
A New Paris man was arrested on Saturday after a single vehicle accident.
Police say Christopher M. Carmer, 34, was driving in the 1200 block of Jarrah Road in Bremen when the accident occurred. A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy responded to the scene and believes that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to a news release.
Carmer was arrested on preliminary charge of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .15% or more.
The Marshall County Commissioners received an update on the plans for the Bridge 81, or Hickory Road, project.
Laurie Johnson from DLZ reminded the commissioners that the wetland mitigation documents will be presented to them at their next meeting for approval. The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the paperwork at their last meeting that allows the county to maintain the grounds for ten years and then it will go back into the possession of the city.
