The Marshall County Commissioners are planning to review the golf cart ordinance due to recent activity on county roads.
Marshall County Commission President Kevin Overmyer asked County Attorney Jim Clevenger to look at the ordinance. Overmyer said he has seen more and more golf carts on county roads where he thought golf carts were not allowed.
I’m starting to see more and more golf carts on our county roads and I think it’s starting to become maybe a bit of a hazard,” stated Overmyer. “I don’t know if you’ve seen any, but I’ve seen an increase in them.”
The commissioners approved a golf cart ordinance several years ago where it states that golf carts can be operated in the unincorporated areas of the county on roads that have a 35 mph speed limit or less. If a golf cart operator is found to be in violation, he or she may be stopped by police and issued a ticket.
The commissioners will review that ordinance in an upcoming meeting.
