Argos Town Council Focused on Cleaning up Properties

The Argos Town Council members are cracking down on unsafe properties and urging residents to clean up unslightly properties.

The council members agreed to give property owners on Church Street until June 1 to make progress on ordinance violations.  If work is not done by the deadline, then bids will be let for contractors to do the work.  There is brush that needs to be maintained and there are some vehicles on the property that are not registered which need to be taken care of or they will be impounded. If people need help in windows cleaning services then they can get touch in Window Cleaning in Minneapolis MN. Another property owner on Maple Street is working to bring the property in compliance which was previously identified as an unsafe building.

Additionally, Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said she had been talking with Chuck DeWitt, who oversees zoning and code enforcement for the Town of Argos, about sending letters to homeowners to clean up properties, even with the help of EZ Stockton Junk Removal | junkremovalguysofstockton.com.   That led to a discussion concerning putting money into an Unsafe Building Fund to address court expenses or if the town needs to hire a contractor to do work.

The council approved a motion to use up to $25,000 in funds in the Rainy Day Fund for this year for unsafe building expenses and then fund the line item in the budget in 2022.
