Marshall County Buildings Open to Essential Employees

The Marshall County Commissioners opened the Marshall County Building and Marshall County Courthouse and Annex to essential employees on Monday.  The public remains restricted from accessing the offices for now.

The maintenance staff members have been working to disinfect all of the buildings.

A special meeting was held Sunday by the commissioners utilizing the teleconferencing method of communication with county council members, County Auditor Julie Fox, EMA Director Clyde Avery and health officials.  Marshall County Health Nurse Lisa Letsinger said there were three positive COVID-19 cases in the county.  Health Department officials were able to talk to individuals who came in contact with the COVID-19 patients. Letsinger said the individuals relayed that they reported no symptoms of COVID-19.

Commission President Kevin Overmyer said he’d contacted a private company who previously supplied hand sanitizer to the Marshall County Health Department where about 25 gallons of hand sanitizer was expected to be delivered on Tuesday for distribution.  An Argos company was anticipated to furnish plastic jugs for the hand sanitizer.
The commissioners urge residents who have been out of the state to self-isolate for 14 days to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  They determined that since travel is for essential purposes only and it appears most residents are observing the order issued by Governor Holcomb, a travel advisory will not be issued at this time.  They could determine a change at a later time, if warranted.

In the meantime, county officials will be working with the hospital to communicate a surge plan.  Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery noted that the Health Department is in constant contact with the hospital, but will coordinate efforts.
