Marshall County Council on Aging to Apply for Public Transit Funds

Officials from the Marshall County Council on Aging are looking to apply for public transit funds through the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Jackie Wright presented the proposal to the Marshall County Commissioners on Monday morning that requests $182,444 to be used for the organization’s transportation services. The match has been secured for the grant.

Wright said she has visited several other government agencies to help with funding public transportation to help provide the need. There were over 600 denials for transportation last year. Some education on services at the Marshall County Council on Aging was explained and funding requests in the amount of $3,000 to $5,000 were made. The Culver Town Council members approved an appropriation of $5,000 and Argos Town Council members approved $3,000. Other organizations may be approached with a similar request, including the county.

The commissioners unanimously approved the Marshall County Council on Aging’s request to apply for the INDOT funding through a resolution.
