The INDOT contracts for projects awarded 2018 Community Crossing grant money were presented to the Marshall County Commissioners for signature Monday morning.
Highway Administrator Laurie Baker said after the contracts are signed the county can begin the process of receiving the grant money totaling $518,322.87. The county’s match is $129,580.72.
Two projects were awarded bids in October. E&B Paving will complete the project on Beech Road from U.S. 6 to 3B Road. Highway Supervisor Jason Peters said wedge and level work on this project will begin on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Walsh and Kelly was awarded the bid for work on North Michigan Street from Tyler to 1st Road. The start date for this project has not yet been determined, but it is the hope of county officials that the project begins yet this year.
The county was awarded a third project, but the bids came in too high to fund it. The commissioners and Highway Supervisor Jason Peters will ask the county council to help fund the South Michigan Street project from Dewey Street to State Road 110. The lowest bid for the project was submitted by Walsh and Kelly in the amount of $450,352. The project is not anticipated to start until next year.
