The Marshall County Commissioners took action this week to approve two contracts for the highway department.
Marshall County Council to Meet in Emergency Session Today
The Marshall County Council members will meet in emergency session this morning to discuss the financial status of the county highway funds to support the cost of flooding repair work.
During last week’s Marshall County Commissioners meeting, Highway Supervisor Jason Peters submitted a cost estimate of damage to the county’s roads, bridges and culverts, as well as labor, equipment and rental costs. That estimate is nearly $5.395 million.
Highway Supervisor Provides Commissioners with Several Updates
Marshall County Highway Supervisor Jason Peters updated the county commissioners on several items Monday morning.
He had the chance to submit the salt bid amount at 2,000 ton. He explained that it’s little more than in past years.
Marshall County Commissioners Receive Preliminary Bridge Plan
The Marshall County Commissioners received a preliminary comprehensive bridge management plan Monday morning from Ben Beer, Business Development for USI Consultants.
“This is really in conjunction with what is now required by INDOT and LTAP. They have a Bridge Asset Management Plan. This is kind of used to support that document, but now if you want to go for Community Crossings money or other grant money every LPA county has to have a Bridge Asset Management Plan,” said Beer. Marshall County Bridge Projects Moving Along
One Marshall County bridge is almost complete while another is in the design phase.
Ben Beer from USI Consultants told the Marshall County Commissioners on Monday that Bridge #174, or Apple Road Bridge, is nearly complete.
“They should have everything completed this week,” said Beer. “They’re paving and putting up guardrail and seeding and then they’ll be out of there. There are no change orders. Everything was within budget.”
Construction on 7th Road Project Continues
The 7th Road project in Plymouth should be complete by the end of June.
Project Supervisor Bart Trester from USI Consultants told the Marshall County Commissioners on Monday that the center of the roundabout is open to traffic in order for construction to occur on the east and west third of the circular intersection. Crews will return the traffic pattern to travel around the roundabout when that phase is complete. The project is anticipated to be done by the end of June.
