The 2019 Budget for Triton Community Schools was adopted when school board members met on Monday.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle noted that in addition to adopting the budget, school board members passed a resolution that would allow him and the school business manager to adjust the funds as necessary. Over $2,800 Raised for Triton Community Schools at Drive-4-Ur-School Event
Officials at Triton Community School Corporation recently extended their gratitude to Auto Park Ford in Bremen for their assistance with a Drive-4-Ur-School event over Memorial Day weekend.
At Drive-4-Ur-School events, people are able to test drive a car on the lot as long as they contribute a donation to the cause. Altogether, the fundraiser raised more than $2,800 for Triton Community Schools. Continue reading
Triton School Board Approves Chromebook Purchase from FireFly Computers
Triton School Board members approved the purchase of 180 new Chromebooks when they met Monday night. The money for the computers will come from a digital learning grant from the Indiana Department of Education.
Members approved two different quotes from the company FireFly Computers. One quote of $23,795 was for 90 Chromebooks for the 6th grade and a quote of $25,592 was approved for some storage carts and 90 Chromebooks for the 2nd grade.
The School Corporation’s treasurer and business manager Tom McFarland explained why there was price difference of about $1,797. Continue reading
Triton Superintendent Thanks Local Law Enforcement for Their Assistance with Emergency Situation
The local law enforcement officers who assisted Triton School officials with an emergency situation a few weeks ago were recognized for their outstanding work during Monday night’s Triton School Board Meeting.

Triton Elementary School Participates in Service Project to Help Residents With Potential Laundry Needs

Triton School Board to Open Construction Bids at Next Meeting
Last week, Triton School Corporation officials held a pre-bid meeting over the school’s construction projects that are being tackled this year.
Before her retirement, Donna Burroughs said the preliminary stages of the project were complete and the construction phase would start soon. She also mentioned that the proposed renovations are estimated to cost over $2 million.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle talked about the additions and repairs that will be made at both school buildings, “We’re doing an HVAC system at the elementary school and at the high school removing the roof and putting a new roof on and then we’re building an auxiliary gym.” Continue reading
Triton School Board Members Reorganize at First Meeting of the Year
The Triton School board members elected officers and addressed appointments when they met on Monday.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said that Amy Middaugh was elected to retain her position as president of the school board while Terri Barnhart was re-elected as school board security. Members voted to have Kevin Boyer remain as vice president of the school board. Continue reading
Triton School Board Grants Permission to Advertise Bids for Building Project
The Triton Schools’ building project is getting closer to the construction phase. Triton School Board members granted permission to advertise bids for the project when they met last Tuesday night.

Triton School Board Wishes Donna Burroughs a Happy Retirement at Final School Board Meeting of the Year
Tuesday night marked Donna Burroughs’ final school board meeting as superintendent of Triton Schools.

Triton Schools Receive Special Opportunity to Double Donations on Giving Tuesday
Earlier this year, young Marshall County students had the opportunity to tour college campuses as a part of the Marshall County Promise Program.

Triton School Board Holds Special Session Over Superintendent Contract
The Triton School Board held a special session Monday evening to discuss the superintendent’s contract. The current superintendent, Donna Burroughs, announced her retirement back in September.
The board has been interviewing candidates for the position and recently came to a decision about who will fill the open position. Burroughs said state law mandates that school boards must hold a public hearing over the superintendent’s contract for the sake of clarity and in case anyone wishes to implement a change. Triton School Board Amends Bus Pick-Up and Drop-Off Policy
The Triton School Board addressed certain safety concerns with drop-off and pick-up procedures when they met earlier this week. Superintendent Donna Burroughs said the school corporation currently does not have a form that parents fill out to specify different pick-up and drop-off locations.
Burroughs reported that there are some families who are calling in frequently to instruct the schools of different places that their child needs to be dropped off at or picked up from on different days.
“It’s impossible to keep track of, especially if you have a substitute bus driver who may not know the kids to know that they aren’t going to their usual spot.” Burroughs explained, “Before we just went ‘well here’s their house that’s where they get picked up and dropped off’ but we’re past that in a lot of cases now with both parents working or divorce situations, et cetera.” Continue reading
