Triton School Board Approves Chromebook Purchase from FireFly Computers

Triton School Board members approved the purchase of 180 new Chromebooks when they met Monday night. The money for the computers will come from a digital learning grant from the Indiana Department of Education.

Members approved two different quotes from the company FireFly Computers. One quote of $23,795 was for 90 Chromebooks for the 6th grade and a quote of $25,592 was approved for some storage carts and 90 Chromebooks for the 2nd grade.

The School Corporation’s treasurer and business manager Tom McFarland explained why there was price difference of about $1,797. McFarland said the computers for the 6th grade will be replacements, so the teachers and students in that grade already have access to storage carts while the 2nd grade will be receiving one-to-one computers for the first time so additional carts had to be purchased as well.
