Plymouth School Board Offers Stipend for AP and Dual Credit Teachers

Plymouth School CorpThe Plymouth School Board has decided to incentivize some of its teachers to obtain greater levels of education.

Two years ago, the Indiana General Assembly devised rules allowing salary increases for teachers teaching AP and Dual Credit courses. The catch is the teacher overseeing the dual credit courses must possess a Master’s Degree and undergo 18 hours of graduate coursework in that subject by 2020 to receive the stipend.

TASK Organization to Provide Community Education Prior to Tax Vote

educationTaxpayers for Argos Schools and Kids is planning several upcoming events to brief the public on a possible increase to their property tax levy.

Whether to apply an additional $.61 per $100 of assessed valuation will go to ballot referendum during May 3rd’s primary election. If approved by voters, about $1-million in revenue is expected to be generated to retain both teachers and extracurricular programs.

Education Funding Efforts Ramp Up in Argos

educationAn Argos-based group is hoping to influence public opinion to support a tax increase for local schools this May.

The Taxpayers for Argos Schools and Kids (TASK) group plans several public events to help raise awareness of the budget difficulties faced by the Argos Community School Corporation. Argos is no different than many other school corporations, where reductions in student population translate to a reduction in funding.

More Than 1600 Hoosier Students Benefit from Field Trip Grant Program

ftThanks to the Discovering the Outdoors Field Trip Grant Program, students at 22 Indiana schools will learn about nature by visiting Indiana state parks and reservoirs this school year. The grants are open to public, private, religious and home-school educators and are administered through the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation, the supporting non-profit of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
