The Argos Town Council approved a bid for cemetery mowing for the season last week. During the previous meeting, two bids were opened. The first was from A & J Lawn Care for $22,000 and the second bid was from 3-D Services for $21,240. After some discussion, the council approved a motion to award the bid to A & J Lawn Care.

Continue readingDue to the volatile nature of the recycling market on top of the reception of dirty recyclable material, the City of Plymouth will observe an every-other-week recycling pickup schedule.
This will save costs to the city to the first year of the five-year contract. The price could decrease seven percent or increase seven percent depending on if the residents contribute dirty or clean recyclables. Some education pieces will be sent to residents in order to keep recyclable items free of contamination.
The change of pick-up will begin in November.
The current Thursday pick-up for residents who live south of Jefferson and east of Michigan will move to Wednesday with trash and recycling pick-up beginning Nov. 6. Residents who live north of Jefferson Street will experience trash and recycling pick-up on Tuesdays beginning on Nov. 12 while those residents living south of Jefferson Street and West of Michigan will have Wednesday trash and recycling pick-up beginning Nov. 13.
Recycling will be picked up every other week following the initial day change.
The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members unanimously approved an amendment to the original agreement with Republic Services to reflect this change.
Bourbon Town Council members made an appointment to the Library Board when they met Tuesday night. At the request of Library Director Nick Treber, members appointed Lindsey McIntyre to the library board.
Additionally, members considered a request from Republic Services’ Municipal Account Executive Pete Callan. Continue reading
Representatives from the company who provides recycling services to the residents of Bremen want to adjust their pick-up schedule.
An addendum to the agreement that the Town of Argos has with Republic Services was signed when town council members met last week.
At their final meeting in June, members decided to proceed with their trash provider’s recommendation to switch to every other week recycling pick-up. When members met on Thursday, they finalized the decision by signing the addendum, according to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney. Continue reading

Trash rates in Argos were raised slightly when Town Council members met last Wednesday.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney explained that officials compared how much they were charging to how much they were paying for the services and realized that they were not collecting enough to fully pay their contract with Republic Services. Mullaney said about $5,000 per year was being lost as a result of the under-charging. Continue reading
