Plymouth Accident Claims Life of Illinois Man

A three-vehicle accident at U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive in Plymouth claimed the life of an Illinois man Saturday, October 5 just after 6:30 p.m. ET.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, it was determined that a 2009 white Chevy truck was stopped at a red light on U.S. 30 eastbound at Pioneer Drive. A 2018 red Volkswagon SUV was traveling west on U.S. 30 and turning south onto Pioneer Drive. A third vehicle, a 2014 white Nissan, was traveling east on U.S. 30 and failed to stop, striking the Chevy truck in the rear and the Volkswagon SUV on the front passenger side.

Police say the driver of the 2014 Nissan, a 30-year-old man from Illinois, died while on the way to the hospital. The other occupants in the other vehicles involved where injured, according to the report.

No drivers were identified in the report.

The Plymouth Police Department was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire and EMS, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana State Excise Police, LaPaz Fire and EMS, and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.

Plymouth Man Dies in Accident

A three-vehicle accident at a busy intersection in Plymouth claimed the life of a Plymouth man.

According to information from the Plymouth Police Department, Samuel Bondranko, 54, of Vale, Virginia, was traveling east on U.S. 30 approaching Oak Drive when he turned his focus to a semi turning onto U.S. 30. The traffic signal had changed and Bondranko reportedly told police that he did not see that it had turned red in his lane of traffic. Police say Bondranko entered the intersection and collided with a car driven by Richard Kunkle, of Plymouth who was traveling south on Oak Dr. Bondranko also struck a vehicle driven by Timothy Evans, of Valparaiso, who was attempting to onto U.S. 30 from Oak Dr.
