The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s 2020 budget was adopted during Tuesday’s school board meeting. It calls for a total budget of more than $36 million. Just over $20 million of that is the Education Fund, with an Operations Fund of more than $9 million. Business Manager Kandi Tinkey said she anticipates the total tax rate to be about 1.16 percent, up from just over 1.1 percent.

Lunch prices will likely be going up at Plymouth Schools. The school board voted Tuesday to raise the cost of a regular student lunch by 10 cents, starting next school year. Milk and breakfast prices are set to go up by five cents.

The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s 2019 budget was officially adopted by the school board Tuesday. The total budget adds up to about $35 million.
The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s 2019 budget proposal drew no comments or concerns from the public Tuesday. Business Manager Kandi Tinkey reviewed the various parts of the budget, along with the capital projects and bus replacement plans, during a public hearing held by the school board.
The Plymouth Community School Corporation will be paying a bit more for school nurses this school year. Under an agreement approved by the school board last week, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center will provide seven registered nurses and two health aides for a cost of nearly $367,000. That’s over $1,700 more than what the school corporation paid last year.
The Plymouth School Board is adding more clarity to the way certain bills are paid. Normally, claims are approved by the school board before they’re paid. But in some instances, the school corporation may be contractually obligated to pay them before board members have a chance to approve them.
The Plymouth Community School Corporation is transferring some unused money into its Rainy Day Fund. Last week, the school board approved a resolution to transfer $150,000 from the Capital Projects Fund.
The Plymouth Community School Corporation is getting ready for the new school funding structure set to take effect in 2019. Last week, the school board adopted a resolution to establish new Education and Operations funds, as required by House Bill 1009.
