Prospective college students and their parents can get their questions about college in general and Ancilla College in particular answered during an upcoming event. The school is hosting an Access Ancilla Day on Thursday, Oct. 23. Vice President for Admissions Eric Wignall says the event gets under way at noon EDT on the Donaldson campus. He says it’s open to all ages but especially encourages high school juniors and seniors and their parents to drop by for a visit. Ancilla College Official Discusses Future Plans
Ancilla College officials recently announced plans to build a second residence hall on the Donaldson campus. Vice President of Admissions Eric Wignall says work on it will start as soon as the new student life center is finished.
“It’s going to be part coffee shop, part cafeteria, part kitchen facility, etc. The cool thing about the kitchen facility, the back of the kitchen, the back of the house, as they say, is a large kitchen prep area, and yes, we’re going to start offering culinary classes at some point.” Continue reading

Ancilla Officials, Bishop Dedicate Residence Hall
The new residence hall at Ancilla College is ready for the rest of the student body to move in on Friday. The Most Reverend Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese blessed the building during a ceremony yesterday in Donaldson attended by about 200 people. He says the word “Ancilla” is Latin for “handmaid.” When Mary was asked by the angel Gabriel if she would say yes to being the mother of the son of God, she answered, “I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your work.” Bishop Rhoades says that act of faith inspired the sisters of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ to found Ancilla College. Ancilla College Dorm Filled to Capacity
Ancilla College officials will formally dedicate the first dormitory on the campus of the two-year private school during a ceremony tomorrow afternoon. President Dr. Ken Zirkle says 40 or so student-athletes have already moved in and are enjoying the amenities of the three-story building. The new residence hall at Ancilla College has proven to be a game-changer for the state’s only private, two-year liberal arts school. Enrollment has increased by nearly 25 percent, according to school officials. Ancilla College officials have scheduled a blessing ceremony for the first residence hall to be constructed on the campus of the private, two-year school. Ancilla College Adds New Certificate Programs
Several new certificate offerings at Ancilla College are designed to help people quickly get into the workforce. Director of Marketing and Social Media Amanda Petrucelli says Ancilla is a two-year school, but officials there acknowledge some people don’t have that much time. The certificate programs are 30 credit hours each and can be done in two semesters. Offerings include criminal justice, business administration, exercise science, general studies, behavioral science, logistics and administrative medical assistant. Continue reading
Wednesday is Ancilla Gives Day
Ancilla is hosting a 24 hour fundraiser on June 24th that encourages supporters to donate to the local junior college and assist them in finishing out the fiscal year strong. On this day people are prompted to make a donation of at least $24 to the Ancilla fund which provides financial aid to students. Ninety-three percent of Ancilla College students receive financial aid and 43 percent of student families are in a category that can afford zero dollars toward tuition. Continue reading

The Ancilla College Nursing department has officially been honoring the hard work, dedication and professionalism of their graduating nurses with pinning ceremonies for a decade. The tenth professional pinning ceremony took place on Sunday, May 31 at the Catherine Kasper Life Center Chapel.

Ancilla College graduated its 48th class in school history on Saturday, with 65 students awarded degrees. “This is an excellent graduating class,” said Ancilla College President Dr. Ken Zirkle. “I am very proud of the graduates; a number of whom are already accepted and enrolled in four-year programs or are already placed in jobs that came as a result of their education here at Ancilla.” Continue reading
Ancilla College President Reflects on First Year
Another academic year is in the books at Ancilla College. President Ken Zirkle took over leadership of the two-year, private, Catholic school last fall and has accomplished quite a bit in a short amount of time. During his tenure, school officials broke ground on Ancilla’s first residence hall. It’s on schedule to be finished Aug. 1 and will provide housing for about 100 first-year students. Continue reading
