Plymouth City Council Approves Use of Flood Cleanup Money for Loader Repairs

The Plymouth City Council has agreed to use money set aside for flood cleanup to repair some of the city’s equipment. Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver told council members last week that the Street Department had problems with both of its loaders in the past year. The total repair bill came in around $24,000, according to Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt, which is more than what was budgeted.

Culver School Board Makes Arrangements for Bus Purchase

The Culver Community Schools Corporation is looking to replace an extra school bus this year. Bus 24 was scheduled to be replaced in 2020, but school officials have decided to move that forward, according to Treasurer Casey Howard. The school board took steps to make funds available earlier this month. But Howard told board members this week that the 2018 through 2030 bus replacement plan had to be amended before the state would allow the additional appropriation. The school board passed a resolution Monday to accept the amended plan.

Plymouth City Council Holds Hearing Over Additional Appropriation Resolutions

Plymouth City Council members held a public hearing Monday night over resolutions that would allow additional appropriations to be made.

Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained that there were three different resolutions up for consideration.

The first resolution had to do with funds spent by the Plymouth Police Department. Xaver informed the council members and hearing attendees that due to a typo on the legal ad, she was unable to appropriate the entire cash balance for the Crime Prevention Fund. She said she advertised for $361 so that’s all that can be appropriated at this point. Continue reading

Marshall County Council Approves Additional Appropriation for Argos Schools

The Marshall County Council members discussed an additional appropriation request from the Argos Community School Corporation this week.

Argos Community School Corporation Director of Business Services Jennifer Lee explained that the money will be used for General Fund purposes.

“We just want to make sure we have the permission to spend throughout the year,” said Lee. “We have the money we just need permission to spend it if we need it to cover salaries and basic General Fund expenses.” Continue reading
