FRIEDA M. JOHNSON
June 25, 1938 – January 20, 2018

LAKEVILLE – Frieda Mae Johnson, 79, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

Frieda was born in Plymouth on June 25, 1938 to Ernest F. and Inez E. (Bradley) Hattery and attended school in LaPaz.

She was the wife of Dennis Johnson for 35 years.  On June 6, 1998 in Lakeville, Frieda married Gailen E. Johnson. He would proceed her in death in 2008.

She worked for Hehr International for 32 years, and then as a cafeteria worker for LaVille Jr. High School. Frieda was a member of the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Post 27 Ladies Auxiliary in Plymouth.  Frieda loved her pet dogs and the era of ‘Disco’.

Esther Marie Klapp

ESTHER MARIE KLAPP
April 10, 1918 – January 21, 2018

PLYMOUTH – Esther Marie Klapp, 99, of Plymouth, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Pilgrim Manor.
Esther was born April 10, 1918 in Plymouth, Indiana, Esther was the eldest of nine children of the late Elzie and Valera (Palmer) Jones.
She often spoke fondly of her growing-up years with her eight brothers and sisters and had a phenomenal memory of the past. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1936 and was an avid genealogist, a former volunteer at the Marshall County Historical Museum, and a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Esther married Charles H. Klapp on June 8, 1941 in Plymouth; he would precede her in death on June 6, 1991.
She retired in 1980 from Parkview Hospital where she worked in housekeeping. Continue reading

Marie Elizabeth Baker April 19, 1922 – January 21, 2018

PLYMOUTH- Marie E. Baker, 95 died on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living in Hoffman Estates, IL. She was a long time resident of Plymouth before relocating to Sun City in Huntley, IL with her husband Dorland in 2005.
Born in Renville, MN on April 19, 1922, Marie was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Balogh. She relocated with her family to Plymouth after the Second World War and on January 31, 1948, Marie was married to Dorland at St. Clements Catholic Church in Chicago. Continue reading

Harold L. Samuels

Harold L. Samuels October 3, 1953 – January 20, 2018

BREMEN- Harold L. Samuels, 64, passed away of liver cancer at 5:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center- Mishawaka.

Harold was born on October 3, 1953 in Plymouth, Indiana to Tommy Samuels and Dorothy O. Thomas.

In Plymouth on August 25, 1973, Harold married the former Carrie L. Peterson.

He joined the Army National Guard and was Honorably Discharged on November 8, 1978.

Harold worked for U.S. Granules for 38 years. He then most recently, before his semi-retirement on January 1, 2017, worked for the former Charleston Corporation in Bremen. Continue reading

Donna F. Lamb January 19, 1928- January 18, 2018

PLYMOUTH – Donna F. Lamb, 89, passed away peacefully at 5:50 PM p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in Plymouth.

Living in the Plymouth area all her life, Donna was born in Plymouth on January 19, 1928, the daughter of James Henry and Florence I. (Day) Hartman.

Ruby M. Gangloff

August 23, 1937 – January 18, 2018

PLYMOUTH- Ruby M. Gangloff, 80, passed away in her home at 11:40 p.m. on Thursday January 18, 2018.

Born in Vallonia, Indiana, Ruby was the daughter of Francis M. Humphrey and Virignia L. (Davidson) Humphrey-Schwein.

She graduated from Vallonia High School with the class of 1955, where she received a full academic scholarship for college. She attended Indiana State University for two years and was the 1956 Homecoming Queen.

On July 5, 1957 in Plymouth, Ruby married Jim Gangloff. He would proceed her in death on November 29, 2008.

Ruby retired after nearly 29 years of working for Nipsco as a senior customer service representative.

Connie Sue Ball, 74, of Bourbon, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Indiana.
Connie was born May 9, 1943 in Mexico, Missouri, to the late Leo and Barbara (Jones) Jones.
She graduated from Centralia High School in 1961.

Greta Marie (Braun) Corsbie

Memorial services for former Plymouth resident, Greta Marie (Braun) Corsbie, 89, will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Toni Carmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to services.
Greta passed away on Sunday, November 19th in Rockwall, Texas. She was born to Clarence Eugene Braun and Margaretha (Husmann) Braun in Chicago, Illinois on May 16, 1928.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Herman Corsbie, her son, Gary (Lou) Corsbie and her daughter, Wendy (Mike) Will. She is survived by her children, Diane (Phil) Gingerich, Barry (Nancy) Corsbie, and Jeff (Joni) Corsbie, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her dog Squirt.
Greta enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, dancing, exercising and attending her grandchildren’s many activities. She attended the First United Methodist Church while living in Plymouth.

CULVER – Sandra “Sandy” D. Bennett, 73, of Culver, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 in the Saint Joseph Regional Hospital – Plymouth Campus.

She was born January 10, 1944 in Marshall County, to the late George and Garnet (Enyert) Beauchamp.
Sandy married Lawrence “Larry” D. Bennett on September 30, 1961 in Bass Lake; and he survives.

She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed sewing, cleaning, and renovating homes with Larry. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martha A. Kruyer Adams

Lifetime Plymouth resident, Martha A. Kruyer Adams, 91, passed away at 6:46 p.m. on Sunday January 7, 2018 at Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth.

Martha was born in Plymouth, Indiana on July 25, 1926 to Lawrence E. and Ethel (Dull) Pierce. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1944.

On Oct 18, 1952, Martha married Lewis F. “Spud” Kruyer. He would precede her in death on March 25, 1986. She would then meet and marry Clifford E. Adams on October 24, 1987. He would also precede her in death on June 10, 2011.

Martha, while having no children of her own, opened her arms and heart to her step-children and grandchildren. She cherished all the memories made with them and the laughs shared.

She enjoyed crafts, shopping, reading and many trips to Florida. Martha was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, the VFW Post 1162 Ladies Auxiliary and Harvest House. Continue reading

PLYMOUTH – Dawn A. “Mah” Mann, of Plymouth, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Mishawaka Campus.

She was born March 23, 1963 in Plymouth, to the late Dennis Roy and Shirley Joann (Trapp) Mishler.

She graduated from the Culver Community High School.

Dawn married David R. Mann on March 19, 1998; and he survives.

She was a receptionist with Sani-Tred. She loved her family and was a full-time wife, mom and grandmother who enjoyed caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. Dawn enjoyed crocheting, dancing, playing card games, Boggle arts and crafts and most importantly, spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband; David R. Mann of Plymouth, her four children; Aaron Decker of Mishawaka, Raena Decker of Plymouth, Sarah Mann of Plymouth, and Harrison Mann of Plymouth. Also surviving are her two brothers; Kurt Mishler of Culver and Jeff Mishler of Avon, as well as her step-father; Butch Trapp.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM.
