Marshall County Public Health Emergency Disaster Declaration Allowed to Expire, County Mask Order Lifted

The Marshall County Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration was allowed to expire this week.  The Marshall County Commissioners had the weekly declaration in place for several months during the COVID-19 health pandemic.   It was last renewed on February 16 and set to expire on February 23.  It was not renewed Tuesday, February 23.

Indiana Launches Homebound Hoosiers Vaccination Program, Expands Eligibility to Dialysis Patients

Indiana continues taking steps to make it easier for Hoosiers to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Indiana Department of Homeland Security Executive Director Steve Cox says local fire and EMS departments are stepping up to bring vaccines to those who are eligible but are unable to go to a vaccination site through the new Homebound Hoosiers program.

Plymouth City Council Holds Public Hearing on Additional Appropriation Requests

The Plymouth City Council members opened a public hearing Monday night concerning an additional appropriation, or the authority to spend money in the East Laporte Street Footbridge Fund, for the East Laporte Street Historic Footbridge project in the amount of $315,000.  There were no public comments submitted during that portion of the hearing.

State Health Officials Seeking Guidance on Easing Long-Term Care Visitation Restrictions

When long-term care facility visitation is able to get back to normal will depend on more federal guidance. Indiana Family and Social Services Administration Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dan Rusyniak says indoor visitation is currently allowed in facilities that haven’t had any new cases in the past 14 days, as long as the seven-day positivity rate is under 10 percent in the county.

Bremen School Staff Step up to the Plate during Cafeteria Staff Quarantine

The news came down an hour before the lunch rush that contact tracing resulted in all but one Bremen Public Schools cafeteria staff member having to quarantine. That did not deter members of the school corporation to step up to the plate to ensure that a nutritious lunch was prepared and served to all students.
