Town of Argos Continues to Fine Tune SRO Contract

The Argos Town Council is awaiting final touches on a contract with the Argos Community School Corporation concerning the School Resource Officer.

Town Attorney Derek Jones is working on the contract with the school.

During a previous meeting, it was explained that the School Resource Officer is an employee of the school and will be paid by the school.  However, the officer also has to be at least a part-time officer of the Town of Argos.  The officer would have use of a police vehicle and a town-issued service weapon.  The officer would also need to comply with the town’s requirements as they pertain to police officers.

On November 16, the town council did not act on hiring an officer part-time who will also be the SRO at the Argos Community School Corporation.
