Culver Town Council Amends Salary Ordinance

The Culver Town Council members considered changes to the current Salary Ordinance during last week’s meeting.

The amendment was initially meant to be heard on third reading, but with several changes proposed the ordinance amendment started over with a first reading.

The changes included a salary adjustment for officers on the Culver Police Department, which essentially outlines an hourly increase up to $5.00 for all officers.

The adjustment also addresses the salary range of the new building commissioner to be $20-$24 per hour for 1,560 hours per year or 30 hours per week.  His pay would be effective on his hire date.

The Utility Department Level 2 labor can now be split out of Street, Water and Sewer Funds or attached to just water or just sewer.

The ordinance amendment was unanimously approved on first reading. The rules were suspended and the ordinance amendment was unanimously approved on second and third readings.

The changes will take effect with the April 14 payroll.
