Clarification Given on Culver Salary Ordinance Amendment

Culver Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim asked the Culver Town Council members this week for clarification on the recent action taken to amend the salary ordinance.

She asked specifically about police pay. She stated that the council set the police chief’s rate at a $5.00 increase, plus a range for the assistant chief and officers, but did not specify what the raise would be.

Councilman Rich West stated that it was his understanding that the $5.00 increase was for across the board which would include the police chief, full-time officers and assistant chief.  The increase would also help with recruiting efforts.

The council agreed with that clarification and unanimously voted to make that as noted in the amended salary ordinance.

Previously, the salary ordinance amendment also addressed the salary range of the new building commissioner to be $20-$24 per hour for 1,560 hours per year or 30 hours per week.  His pay would be effective on his hire date.

The Utility Department Level 2 labor can now be split out of Street, Water and Sewer Funds or attached to just water or just sewer.

Most of the adjustments were reflected with the April 14 payroll.
