The Marshall County Commissioners took time to remember Roger Umbaugh Monday morning who served as the president of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors from its inception in 2007 to 2019, and Umbaugh’s service to the Marshall County community.  He passed away in August of this year.

As part of the presentation, Todd Samuelson, who was hired by Roger Umbaugh at Umbaugh and Associates (now Baker Tilly) more than 30 years ago, said Umbaugh was a mentor to him and a friend.

“You mentioned his impact here in the county and throughout the State of Indiana and I can speak personally to that in terms of just watching him over the years, leading our firm in what we do here in Indiana in our tag line, ‘helping communities be a better place to live, work and play’.  Roger embodied that, really,” said Samuleson.

To honor the memory of Umbaugh’s commitment to the community, Marshall County Commission President Kevin Overmyer presented a plaque to Bill Davis, the current president of the MCEDC Board of Directors.

Overmyer stated, “On behalf of Marshall County, we would like to present to the MCEDC board the Roger Umbaugh Board Room in recognition of outstanding leadership and service as a founding president of MCEDC Board of Directors Roger Umbaugh 2007-2019.”

Bill Davis thanked the county for the honor.

Davis commented,  “Roger just had a tremendous leadership ability.  I learned a lot from him and I try to carry on that tradition today.  This is going to dedicate our MCEDC Board Room as the outstanding leadership and service that Roger provided to our county and to me as a friend and to our organization.  Thank you.”

Umbaugh’s daughter, Susan Wilson, was also on hand to accept the plaque on behalf of the Umbaugh family.
