The Marshall County Commissioners agreed to wait one more week past August 1 in order to go through with the sale of property on Plum Street for use by the maintenance department.
Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Director Doug Masterson asked the commissioners in November to look into the property as a possible storage building for equipment for the maintenance department.
There has been a bit of a delay in approving the paperwork as one of the owners lives out of the country. County Attorney Jim Clevenger explained earlier that the revised Power of Attorney was not acceptable by the title company as it needs to be signed by a specialized notary. During an earlier meeting this month, Commission President Kevin Overmyer asked Clevenger to write the owners a letter and explain that the documents need to be signed and the transaction complete by August 1. Clevenger told the commissioners last week that the owners asked for an extension as they try to resolve the notary issue.
The commissioners learned that the current storage area for maintenance equipment may no longer be available to the county so they agreed to the extension.
