Marshall County Commissioners to Work with County Council on Plan for American Rescue Plan Act Funding

The Marshall County Commissioners will meet with Marshall County Council members in a meeting Monday morning to go over options for what the government leaders can do with the American Rescue Plan Act funding coming to the county.

The county will be receiving two funding distributions totaling $8,971,000.  The first draw is expected in the next two months and the second draw is expected in 2022.  The county has until December 31, 2024 to spend the money.

Commission President Kevin Overmyer suggested the joint meeting during the commissioners’ recent meeting to include the council members, Marshall County Public Health Officer Dr. Byron Holm, Ken Jones with JPR, and municipal officials.  He hopes that Baker Tilly representatives can be at the meeting to discuss the guidelines on spending.

Auditor Julie Fox said the county is also getting assistance from the Association of Indiana Counties to help with lost revenue experienced by the county.

The meeting will be held after the county council meeting Monday morning.

The commissioners did agree to support the action of creating a fund in the budget for receipt of that money.  The same proposal will be presented to the council Monday morning.
