Culver Town Council Looks at Reopening Plan for Town Hall, Beach Lodge

The Culver Town Council members looked at a plan for reopening Town Hall to the public and where meetings will be held in the near future.

Former Town Manager Jonathan Leist brought up the discussion last week as Culver Town Hall has been closed to the public other than by appointment for several months.  He suggested following the county guidelines and the state guidelines when opening the building to the public.

The council agreed to open Town Hall on March 1.  If there is a red status in the state’s county metrics map, the Town Hall would close again to the public.  The Culver Town Council meetings and the Planning Commission and BZA meetings will return to Town Hall in March, but there will be a virtual option for those who do not want to attend in person.

As for the Culver Beach Lodge, the building will remain closed until Park Superintendent Amber Cowell looks into the matter a little more and reports back to the council at a future meeting.  There are less than 10 people who currently attend certain classes at the Beach Lodge which allows appropriate social distancing.  That number could increase depending on the community spread status of the county.
