Argos Town Council Makes Amendments to 2021 Salary Ordinance

The Argos Town Council members took action last week to make changes to the 2021 salary ordinance.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney explained that the Police Sergeant/School Resource Officer pay was amended as well as the Police Sergeant/Assistant Chief pay.  They were separate line items and made retroactive to the last payroll period.  This is in response to an earlier decision to include the assistant chief in the salary ordinance and the promotion of the school resource officer to the rank of Sergeant.

Additionally, Mullaney said the clothing allowances for EMS and town employees were moved to be issued in January instead of at the end of the calendar year.  That was also made retroactive to the last payroll period.

Previously, changes made to the ordinance included a requirement for Police Commission members to attend meetings in order to get compensated for each meeting. The members get paid $25 a meeting, not to exceed $300 a year.

Another change was to reinstate the requirement for Park Board members to be compensated only if they attend meetings.  It is a compensation of $598.
