Plymouth City Council Approves Changes in Salary Ordinances

The Plymouth City Council took action last week to approve two salary ordinances to accommodate the addition of a Human Resources Manager.

The person will be working directly out of City Attorney Sean Surrisi’s office and will handle all duties necessary of a Human Resources Manager.

Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver asked the city council a month ago to consider hiring either a person in-house or outsourcing the position so it that could free up some time for an employee in her office.  She noted having a Human Resources Manager would have time solely to focus on the needs of all city employees to and to handle matters in concert with Surrisi.

The council agreed to the request and a person from Xaver’s office will be moving into that position as soon as possible.  It was noted that training will be lengthy for additional responsibilities so they wanted a candidate in the office right away.

The two salary ordinances for the year 2020 and 2021 were approved with the addition of the new position with a unanimous vote.

Xaver asked that she be allowed to hire a person for the payroll position which was also approved.
