Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters asked the Marshall County Commissioners on Monday if he should move forward with an INDOT application for the 2025 Call for Projects that includes the extension of Veteran’s Parkway.
Peters presented the proposed project to the Marshall County Council members last week who verbally gave their support for funding the county’s portion of the project which is estimated at about $1.9 million. At the time, Peters said the proposed project would extend Veteran’s Parkway two miles from North Michigan Street, to Oak Road to Pine.
Peters noted that this project would be funded, in part, by the county and by the City of Plymouth with a joint application due by Dec. 13 to be reviewed by MACOG and then to INDOT for consideration.
During Monday’s meeting, Commission President Kevin Overmyer said he talked with Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter and City Attorney Sean Surrisi and they encouraged a presentation to the Plymouth City Council during next week’s meeting. He would be contacted if they would be on the agenda.
Overmyer noted that if the City of Plymouth isn’t willing to do the project, then Peters would need to submit an alternate request in the 2025 Call for Projects. If that’s the case, Peters is planning to submit a bridge replacement project proposal for Bridge #232 which is the Randolph Street bridge.
