The Town of Culver is looking to apply for the next round of the Community Crossings matching grant program.
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the Culver Town Council members last week that he and Utility Superintendent Bob Porter are putting together a list of about eight projects.
Leist said one of the larger projects is South Main Street from Davis to West Shore. Drainage will be addressed in this potential project. Leist indicated that the matching grant will pay for storm water infrastructure as well as road paving. Water and sewer costs and engineering costs will need to be covered by the town.
Other proposed projects include Cass Street from Slate Street to Lake Street, Clymax from Jefferson to Marmont, Plymouth from Mill to Obispo, West Shore Street from South Main to Lincoln which will be part of the drainage project, Washington Street from Ohio Street to east terminus, State Street from College Street to Lake Shore Drive, and Obispo from Batabano to Wabash Streets.
A cost estimate will be obtained to submit with the application as required.
Leist asked the council members to approve authorization for Council President Ginny Bess Munroe to sign authorization for the matching funds for each project, not to exceed $250,000 which is the maximum amount. The money will be split between the Street, Local Roads and Streets, and Motor Vehicle Highway funds. If the town is awarded the drainage project, then storm water funds can be included in the matching money.
The town council members approved Leist’s request.
As far as completion, the projects can be split up in 2020 and 2021 as necessary.
