Argos Town Council members approved a declaratory resolution to establish a TIF area when they met last month.
Argos Redevelopment Commission Vice President Mark VanDerWeele informed council members that while the resolution can be amended at any time, they would have to restart the lengthy approval process over from the beginning if any changes are made. Since this resolution has to be finalized prior to December 31st, officials made it as detailed as possible to avoid having to start the process again.
The resolution indicates that the TIF area would include the Industrial Park as well as the north part of Dewey Street. There are no residential structures in the area. Since everything is already zoned as commercial, nothing will have to be rezoned for this purpose.
With the town council’s approval, the resolution will now go back before the Redevelopment Commission when they meet on Tuesday, November 13th. The resolution will be up for final authorization when the Town Council meets on Wednesday, November 21st.
