Argos Officials Close to Closing on Property for Downtown Square

Members of the Argos Town Council are hopeful that a closing date will be scheduled soon concerning the property in downtown Argos for the Downtown Square project at Michigan and Walnut. The decision would also consider the management for rental properties. The attorney has come up with an approximate date.

Argos Council Gives Blessing for Purchase of Downtown Square Property

Plans are coming together for the new Argos Downtown Square. The project will bring a performance stage, restrooms, and other landscaping features to the former Speedway site at Michigan and Walnut. The town council Wednesday agreed to let the redevelopment commission proceed with buying the necessary property.

Argos Town Council Provides Initial Approval on TIF Area Resolution

Argos Town Council members approved a declaratory resolution to establish a TIF area when they met last month.

Argos Redevelopment Commission Vice President Mark VanDerWeele informed council members that while the resolution can be amended at any time, they would have to restart the lengthy approval process over from the beginning if any changes are made. Continue reading

Argos Town Attorney Shares Progress Report with Council Members

A couple of different projects in the Town of Argos are free to commence now that some preliminary matters have been handled. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said that at last Wednesday’s meeting, Town Attorney Derek Jones informed council members about some paperwork that had been finalized.

She explained, “He got the easements signed for Westview Court and Woodland Trail and the Colonial Estates deed has now been recorded and put into the Redevelopment Commission’s name.” Continue reading

Argos Town Council Continues to Seek Members for Various Board Positions

When Argos Town Council members met earlier this month, they discussed available openings in the Marshall County Tourism Board, the Plan Commission, the Park Board and the Redevelopment Commission.

According to the draft minutes provided, one person submitted a letter of interest for the park board. Town council members agreed to wait another 30 days from when they met on November 15th, to see if any more individuals apply for the open positions. Continue reading
