Marshall County Council to Review Job Descriptions Soon

A few of the job descriptions worked on by Waggoner, Irwin and Scheele have returned to the county for review.

Marshall County Auditor Julie Fox informed the county council this week that the consulting firm is about three weeks behind in getting all of the 154 job descriptions and hourly wage suggestions ready for review by the department heads and county officials.

The commissioners are expected to call a work session to see what the firm has determined. The auditor noted that no wage information has returned. It could be June before all of the paperwork is submitted to the county.

Council member Bill Githens asked about an update on the county engineer’s job description. During the council’s last regular meeting in March, Commissioner Kurt Garner asked the council to raise the county engineer’s salary up to $85,000. The candidate would supervise the highway department as well as assist with other duties where a civil engineer may be needed. Garner indicated that the candidate the county is attempting to attract is interested in helping with drainage work and other departments in the county including small projects in other communities.

Garner was asked to go back to the original proposal to make some changes, but those changes have not yet been made. The council members would like to review the revisions before making a decision on a salary.
