The preliminary figures are in concerning the amount of flood damage sustained on Marshall County roads.
Marshall County Supervisor Jason Peters gave the cost estimates to the county commissioners on Monday morning.
“For road repairs, we came up with $4,463,814, in bridge repair we came up with $563,000, for culvert repairs the estimate was $233,911.99, and total forces, including labor, equipment, rentals, and materials was $106,237.08. The total preliminary damages cost was $5,394,916.72,” reported Peters.
All of that information is documented and will be submitted with all of the other paperwork to FEMA for potential reimbursement.
Peters added that 1C Road is now open. Repairs were done in-house in order to expedite the use of the road. According to what Indiana Construction representatives told the county highway department, Birch Road was expected to be open on Monday, March 19.
In other work, Marshall County crews are working on a culvert replacement on 7B Road. 7th Road and Maple Road have been downgraded to high water areas.
The Marshall County Council members will meet in an emergency session on Monday to discuss finances to fund repairs due to the flood event. That meeting will take place at 9 a.m. in the second floor meeting room in the Marshall County Building at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
