The number of contested races is starting to add up, heading into the May primary. District 1 Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner has two challengers so far: David W. Hostetler and Stan Klotz. Three candidates are also looking to become the next Marshall County Recorder: Anna “Buffy” Breeding, William Cleavenger, and Janet Howard.
Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen and Prosecutor Nelson Chipman have filed to run for reelection, as have county council members Heath Thornton, Bill Githens, and Judy Stone. Culver Town Council member David Beggs is also seeking reelection. Other county officials seeking reelection include Clerk Deb VanDeMark, Auditor Julie Fox, Assessor Debbie Dunning, and Sheriff Matt Hassel.
The deadline for candidates to file for the May primary is February 9.
