The races are set for May’s primary elections. The most hotly-contested office in Marshall County is District 1 County Commissioner. Incumbent Republican Kurt Garner will face David W. The deadline is approaching for candidates to file to run in the May primary. Candidates have until Friday at noon to file their paperwork with the county clerk’s office. The list of candidates continues to grow in Marshall County. Democrat Angie Rupchoch-Schafer has filed to run for the District 4 County Council seat, challenging incumbent Republican Judy Stone.
Those planning to vote in the May primary must register to vote, if they haven’t already. If you’re not sure if you’re registered, check before registering again. That’s the advice of Pulaski County Election Board Chair Jon Frain.
Candidate filings continue in Marshall County. Several township trustees have filed to run for reelection. They include Center Township Trustee Amy Knapp, German Township Trustee Ben Baker, Green Township Trustee Marie Fishburn, North Township Trustee Chelsea Smith, Polk Township Trustee Jerry Lamb, Tippecanoe Township Trustee Matthew Pitney, Walnut Township Trustee Stephen Wilhelm, and West Township Trustee Terry Lee Borggren.
The number of contested races is starting to add up, heading into the May primary. District 1 Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner has two challengers so far: David W. Hostetler and Stan Klotz. Three candidates are also looking to become the next Marshall County Recorder: Anna “Buffy” Breeding, William Cleavenger, and Janet Howard.
