Marshall County Commissioners Consider E-Gov Contract

The Marshall County Commissioners discussed an E-gov contract with IT Director Michael Marshall last week.

Marshall presented the contract at a previous meeting which calls for a contract with E-gov out of Indianapolis for web hosting and web design. He said they have the skills necessary to produce a user-friendly county website and give it a fresh look. Marshall said he would still be responsible for content.

He added that nine counties currently contract with E-gov for website services.

Changes were made to the contract with recommendations from County Attorney Jim Clevenger.

The annual maintenance and support fee is $1,440 which will be funded out of Marshall’s budget. He assured the commissioners that he would not need to seek an additional appropriation for the expense. Approval for the contract was needed last week to ensure that a down payment could be sent before the claims deadline.

The commissioners approved the contract with a vote of 2 to 1. Commissioners Kevin Overmyer and Kurt Garner were in support of the vote while Commissioner Mike Delp opposed it. He wanted wording in the contract stating that the company wouldn’t solicit to hire Marshall from the county. Marshall talked to the company while the commissioners meeting was still in session and produced an amended contract to include that wording for signature.
