Still Time to Register for 9/11 Heroes Run in Culver

The Town of Culver will be honoring the memory of victims of the World Trade Center attacks, fallen heroes and their families with a 9/11 Heroes 5K Run and 1 mile fun run/walk on Saturday, September 16. In the meanwhile, event coordinators and volunteers have been lining the course with American flags.

Walkers and runners of all different ages and abilities are asked to come out to the Culver Academy Naval Building this Saturday to show support for veterans, their families and first responders. There is still time to register online before the race but individuals also have the ability to register on-site for an additional cost. Continue reading

PTSD Triggers Present During Independence Day Celebrations

Fireworks detonated during holiday celebrations can have an effect on individuals afflicted with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, according to one Clinically Licensed Social Worker.

Sen. Donnelly Care Package Looks to Increase Mental Health Services

U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly is looking to provide additional mental healthcare services to members of the armed services.

During a conference call with reporters Wednesday afternoon, Donnelly said the “Care Package” legislation – which is part of the broader National Defense Authorization Act – aims to increase access to healthcare services provided through the Department of Defense and community healthcare providers.
