Purdue Extension to Host Local Government Finance Workshop

The Purdue Extension Community Development Program is hosting a local government finance workshop for economic development professionals, local elected and appointed officials and community leaders.

The workshop will be held at the Plymouth Public Library from 1p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 15th. It is geared toward community members from a number of counties including Marshall, Pulaski and Starke.

TASK Organization to Provide Community Education Prior to Tax Vote

educationTaxpayers for Argos Schools and Kids is planning several upcoming events to brief the public on a possible increase to their property tax levy.

Whether to apply an additional $.61 per $100 of assessed valuation will go to ballot referendum during May 3rd’s primary election. If approved by voters, about $1-million in revenue is expected to be generated to retain both teachers and extracurricular programs.

Marshall County Approves Tax Abatement for Bourbon Company

A Bourbon-based business is now on its way to creating five new full-time jobs in Marshall County.

The County Council held a special meeting earlier this week to consider abating property taxes for Faulker Fabricating. The company has been in the Marshall County area for the past 25 years and says that property tax relief over the next 10 years will lead to job creation.

Culver Continues Support After Failed LOHUT Attempt

The Town of Culver may be waiting for another attempt before additional revenue is gained.

A letter was sent by the Town to the Marshall County Council expressing their support for a Local Option Highway User Tax and Wheel Tax. Due to stagnant funding from the state of Indiana, local entities are considering the tax as a way to raise revenue for road maintenance and repairs.
