The Culver Town Council approved Ordinance 2022-003 -Rezone 415 Lake Shore Drive from Commercial to Planning Unit Development (PUD) on first read during the meeting Tuesday. The Culver Plan Commission favorably recommended the rezone after a public hearing and meeting held last month.

The Marshall County Commissioners opened a public hearing Monday morning on the subject of a zoning change in the Burr Oak area in Union Township. The property is on the south side of the railroad tracks and it is currently zoned Agriculture-1. The rezoning request was to move it to Industrial-2 for heavy industrial operations.

The Culver Town Council will consider the next step for the proposed Culver Meadows development. It would consist of about 25 single family homes and townhouses, as well as a new gas station in the area of State Road 10 and State Road 17. During tonight’s meeting, council members will consider an ordinance on second and third reading to rezone the property to a Planned Unit Development.
The highlight of Tuesday night’s Culver Town Council meeting was a public hearing that was held to review a Planned Unit Development application for Culver Meadows.
Town Manager Jonathan Leist explained that this week’s hearing consisted of a review of the primary plan and rezoning request. According to Leist, the town has a zoning district that is strictly for PUDs, which allows for the development to have both commercial and residential structures. Continue reading
The Culver Town Council members conducted two public hearings to consider rezoning requests for two properties.
If approved, the BP Good Oil gas station on 203 and 213 Main Street will undergo a renovation project. According to Developer Kevin Berger, the plan is to demolish the house at 213 N. Main Street and extend the convenience store into that area. The current building may be partially demolished in the process to make way for an improved store front. The store front will face southeast as opposed to the current eastern facing.
The Marshall County Commissioners considered a zoning ordinance amendment to change the zoning from an agricultural to a commercial zone at 12131 U.S. 6 adjacent to the La Paz Sewer Plant.
Marshall County Plan Director Ralph Booker said the property is located just south of U.S. 6 and west of U.S. 31 owned by Donald Abbott.
Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Director and CEO Jerry Chavez said this is a step in an economic strategic plan by La Paz officials. The town council there could decide to annex that property for tax purposes some time down the line.
