Quotes for Water and Wastewater Department Trucks Opened at Plymouth BOW Meeting

Plymouth Board of Works members heard quotes for trucks that will be purchased for the Water Department and Wastewater Department when they met last Monday. City Attorney Sean Surrisi opened the quotes and read them out loud to enter them into the record.

He said the first quote received for the Water Department truck came from the Plymouth dealership Oliver Ford who submitted a base quote of $30,510 and provided a trade-in value for a 1999 Ford F250 Pick UP truck of $650, bringing the net total to $29,860. Continue reading

Bids for West Lake Avenue Water Main Extension Project Considered at Plymouth BOW Meeting

Project bids for extension work needed on a West Lake Avenue water main were considered during the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Monday. Plymouth Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson mentioned that the original engineer’s estimate for the project was about $187,450.

He also explained what the project will entail, “It’s an 8-inch water main that will go from where the Montgomery Apartments are, across from the hospital, and it will go around the corner and it will serve the Autumn Trace Assisted Living Facility and will dead-end at their west driveway.” Continue reading

Plymouth Utility Superintendent to Apply for Grant

Plymouth Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson requested permission from the Board of Public Works and Safety members this week to apply for grant money for a few items.

He explained that he is seeking grant funds to purchase a tripod with a 150-foot retrieval cable for the water department. He said workers often enter confined spaces and this would be a good tool in case something happens and someone needs to be retrieved from an underground space.

Cold Weather Preparation Tips from Plymouth Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson

Today is officially the first day of winter and as temperatures are expected to dip below freezing in the coming weeks, home owners need to take necessary precautions to avoid frozen pipes.

Plymouth Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson has a few helpful tips to help protect homes this winter season. Superintendent Davidson reported that most incidents happen at the beginning of the season since people don’t take these simple steps before the cold weather hits.

His first tip was to be sure that all hoses are disconnected and outdoor faucets are turned off. He also stressed the importance of making sure that crawlspace doors and other openings are securely shut to keep drafts from entering the home and cooling the water pipes. Continue reading

Plymouth Utility Superintendent Gives Update on Wastewater Treatment Plant Project

Plymouth Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson gave the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members an update on the wastewater treatment facility plant improvement project.

He asked that $30,000 be shifted for the purchase of inspections and construction engineering. He said this will not affect the bottom line. The board approved the request.

Richter Road Water Main Extension Project Complete

The Richter Road water main extension project in Plymouth is done. Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson gave the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety an update on the project on Monday night.

“We have requested a substantial of completion letter. We are withholding retainer in the amount of $6,230.25 upon completion of their punchlist items which are fairly minor,” said Davidson.
