Slick Conditions Led to Nine-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 30 Monday

Nine vehicles were involved in a chain reaction crash on U.S. 30 in Plymouth Monday evening. Plymouth Police say around 5:10 p.m., a vehicle was heading east on the Michigan Street overpass, when ice caused it to slide into the guardrail and then come to a stop in the roadway. Another vehicle was slowing down, when it was rear-ended by another vehicle, according to officers, setting off a chain reaction.

Plymouth City Council Hears Request from Fire Department’s Relay for Life Team

A representative of the Plymouth Fire Department came before the city council, to submit an application for the exemption of licensing requirements when members met last Monday.

Jim Budd told council members that the Fire Department is raising funds for the Marshall County Relay for Life. He requested permission to collect donations on the corners of Jefferson Street and Michigan Street from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 2nd, with a potential rain date of June 9th. Demolition Starts at River Gate South Apartment Development Site

Demolition has begun on the River Gate South Apartment Development in Plymouth and City Attorney Sean Surrisi said construction will start soon. Surissi was one of the key players in getting this project off the ground by collaborating with members of the community and Regional Cities Initiative, which awarded $1.5 million of funding for the development. Plymouth Official Hopes INDOT Project Could Lead to Intersection Upgrades

INDOT-logo-150x131The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning to repave State Road 17 through Plymouth in the near future, and one Board of Works member hopes that will mean some upgrades for the city’s intersections. Mike Delp has been calling for INDOT to add crosswalks at the intersection of Michigan and Baker Streets, after a resident complained to the board earlier this year about the difficulty of crossing Michigan Street on foot.
