New Principals Named for Menominee, Webster Elementary Schools

Menominee and Webster elementary schools’ next principals have been named. Craig Hopple was appointed to take over at Menominee, and Brooke Busse was selected for Webster, during Tuesday’s Plymouth School Board meeting.

Plymouth Students Participate in Campaign to Raise Awareness About Bullying Prevention Month

Bullying is a serious issue that many students face and unfortunately with the introduction of new technology, it no longer stays in the schoolyard.

It can infiltrate multiple aspects of a child’s life to the point where they feel they’ve lost control. In order to raise awareness about this prevalent problem, October is recognized as Bullying Prevention Month.

According to Plymouth Community Schools Marketing Director Judi Lykowski, students and staff have been engaging in a campaign this week to emphasize that bullies are not welcome at their schools. Continue reading

Upcoming Local Red Cross Blood Drives

The Red Cross is always in need of blood donations. However, in the aftermath of the recent natural disasters that have impacted different portions of the country, it is vital to have a wide variety of blood types from a plethora of donors.

Some blood types are unique to certain racial and ethnic groups, so having an assorted blood supply is important to meet the medical needs of an increasingly diverse patient population. Red Cross reports that patients are less likely to experience complications from blood donated by someone of a similar ethnicity. Menominee Elementary Students Demonstrate Reading Skills to Plymouth School Board

The Plymouth School Board got an update Tuesday on first graders’ reading progress. Students from Menominee Elementary School demonstrated what they’ve learned during the first month of the school. Principal Steven Boyer explained that first grade is when students make the most progress, when it comes to reading foundation.

Menominee Elementary School PTO Orders ADA Compliant Playground Equipment

Menominee Elementary School students will soon be able to enjoy state-of-the art playground equipment that meets all of the standards outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act. The school’s PTO has been raising funds for the past decade to buy larger, more engaging equipment. Principal Steven Boyer says the new playground will sit atop rubber tiles that all students will be able to access. It also provides a number of activities that accommodate students with disabilities. Continue reading
