A recent retiree from the Plymouth Community School Corporation was killed last night in an accident at his home. Robert Pickell fell through his attic onto his cement garage floor, according to information released by PCSC. He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he died late last night from injuries sustained in the fall.

Pickell retired this year after 38 years of teaching in the Plymouth schools. He began his career with the corporation in 1978 as choir director. Most recently he taught elementary students in kindergarten through 4th grade at both Webster and Menominee Elementary Schools in Plymouth.

In an email to Plymouth Community School Corporation staff, Superintendent Dan Tyree said, “Bob was a tremendous educator who touched the lives of so many children in Plymouth Schools from 1978 – 2016. RIP my friend.”

Pickell is survived by his wife and two sons.
