Plymouth School Board Agrees to Rent Space to JESSE Cooperative

The Plymouth Community School Corporation is leasing space to its special education cooperative.

Under a lease agreement recently approved by the school board, the JESSE Cooperative will rent two classrooms at Webster Elementary School and one classroom at Menominee Elementary School and will also be able to use the board room at the Plymouth Schools Administration Building. That space will house JESSE’s offices, as well as its educational programs.

Once the new Lincoln Junior High School is completed, the plan is for JESSE to move into the remaining portion of the current junior high building. JESSE will pay Plymouth Schools $18,000 for the space.

It was one of a few agreements approved during this month’s school board meeting. Board members approved a contract for dietitian services through the Northern Indiana Educational Services Center for next school year. Plymouth Schools’ share of the cost will be $3,500. Superintendent Andy Hartley said it’s a continuation of an existing arrangement and explained that the dietitian makes sure the school corporation is meeting nutritional regulations and other expectations.

The school board also authorized school officials to apply for several annual grant opportunities.
