Marshall County Elects to Fund Courthouse Elevator Upgrades

The Marshall County Council is hoping to ensure smooth operations of its court system by updating the elevators inside the courthouse.

The building has a north and a south elevator that is used by court personnel on the third floor and to transport prisoners for hearings. The age of the elevators inside the courthouse is expected to cause difficulty locating parts if there’s a failure, prompting a recommendation for the elevator contractor to replace both.

Marshall County Saves Costs on Aerial Assessment Contract

The Marshall County Assessor’s office will be able to save a bit of money for 2017’s pictometry surveys.

A six year contract was signed with the vendor providing the service – which includes using aerial technology to capture photo images of land within Marshall County for assessment and other purposes.

Marshall County Continues Community Crossings Preparation

Marshall County continues to keep abreast of its application for the Community Crossings grant program.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the Marshall County Commissioners reviewed the highway department’s Road Asset Management Plan. It’s heavily influenced by PASER testing which evaluates road conditions and ranks them based on needs. The plan is required to receive funds under the state program.

The Marshall County government is moving forward with plans to provide greater access to healthcare for some of its employees.

Partnering with St. Joseph Regional Health Systems, the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning heard a presentation about the benefits of implementing a wellness program through a professional services agreement.

Marshall County Council Denies Broadband Funding for Argos

The Marshall County Council has declined to help fund greater access to broadband in the Town of Argos.

Last week, Jim Burroughs, the Town’s Utility, Park, and Street Superintendent appeared before the Marshall County Commissioners to request assistance for the project. Argos has been working for some time on a three-phase project that will bring greater access to broadband to homes and businesses.

Argos Requests Assistance While Fiber Optic Upgrades Are Completed

Jim Burroughs is the Utility, Park, and Street Superintendent for the Town. He says the community in the southern portion of Marshall County has been working to address a dead space for high-speed internet connectivity.
