Marshall County Police Seeking Information on Burglaries
Detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department are asking for information regarding two separate burglary incidents on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Police say an unknown person or persons forced entry into an outbuilding in the 4,000 block of Beech Road. The suspect took numerous tools, electronics and a large, portable heater, according to the report.
Police Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver
Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a hit-and-run driver in a Wednesday evening crash.
According to police, 21-year-old Hope Fish, of Plymouth, was traveling south on State Road 17 around 6:30 p.m. and slowed to turn onto 12th Road near Lake LaTonka. A car following Fish failed to yield and ran into Fish’s vehicle on the rear driver’s side. Police say the vehicle then fled the scene.
Local Fire Departments Team Up to Battle House Fire Near Tippecanoe Thursday Morning
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center confirmed that a fire broke out at a home in the 4000 block of 7B Road early Thursday morning. Tippecanoe Fire Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 8:25 a.m.
The Argos, Bourbon and Mentone Fire Departments assisted with the incident. Mentone PD stated that their fire department responded to the call at 8:30 a.m. and cleared the scene a few hours later around 11 a.m. Continue reading
One Injured in Accident
A South Bend man was injured in a one vehicle accident Tuesday morning on Fir Road north of U.S. 30 near Bourbon.
Marshall County police say Shawn D. Geraghty was traveling south on Fir Road at 2:45 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle on an icy road surface. His silver 2014 Mazda went off the east side of the road and struck a Marshall County REMC pole.
Two Arrested on Dealing Cocaine Charges
Two men were arrested Sunday after police reportedly found cocaine following a traffic stop.
Shortly after midnight Sunday, a Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a 2008 black Dodge Charger in the Walmart parking lot in Plymouth. The driver, 29-year-old Angel Fernando Ruiz-Flores, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was reportedly found to have never possessed a driver’s license.
Five Arrested on Drug, Nuisance Charges in Plymouth
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested five people after executing an arrest warrant Wednesday night.
According to police, an officer arrived at an apartment in the 500 block of W. Jefferson Street and found the suspect inside along with four other people. Officers reportedly found heroin inside the apartment along with methamphetamine and syringes. All five people were taken into custody.

As winter weather approaches driving conditions will become more hazardous with an increase of snow and ice on the roadways during the coming months.

Tharpe Arrested on Public Intoxication Charge
A Plymouth man was arrested Monday night after police say he attempted to enter several cars on Michigan Street.
According to a report from the Plymouth Police Department, officers were called to the area of Michigan Street and Goshen Road after complaints were received about a man causing a traffic hazard. The man was reportedly attempting to enter several vehicles. Police say an off-duty Marshall County Sheriff’ Department officer arrived at the scene and told Plymouth officers that the man approached his car as well.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Investigates Burglary on Muckshaw Road
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a burglary that took place in the 1500 block of Muckshaw Road.
The incident was reported shortly after 5 a.m. this morning. Individuals alerted police that an unknown person(s) gained entry into their home and stole items from inside the residence.

Sunday Morning Traffic Stop Reportedly Leads to Discovery of Meth, 200 Grams of Marijuana
Two people were arrested early Sunday morning, after police say they found about 200 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop near Bourbon. Marshall County Police say they pulled over a 1996 Ford Explorer for speeding, in the area of U.S. 30 and Beech Road.
Two Injured in Saturday Crash on U.S. 6
Two people were injured Saturday night in a crash at U.S. 6 and Beech Road. Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department say a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta was heading north on Beech Road.
Marshall County Employees to Take Part in Active Shooter Training
Marshall County employees will participate in active shooter training on Friday, Dec. 1.
The county building and courthouse will be closed to the public beginning at 1 p.m. The training is expected to last until 3:30 p.m.
Medical Issue Believed to Cause Marshall County Accident
A medical issue may have caused a single-vehicle accident in Marshall County Sunday afternoon.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Michael Lynn Andrus, of Anson, Texas, was traveling west on U.S. 6 just east of Elm Road when he suffered a medical issue. Police say Andrus’ vehicle ran off of U.S. 6 on the south side and struck a tree.
Elkhart Man Dies in Marshall County Accident
An Elkhart man died as a result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident Friday morning, according to a report released by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
Police say 63-year-old Walter Lee Conner was traveling on U.S. 6 east of Jarrah Road when his van left went off the south side of the road, struck a fence and a mailbox, and continued into a 10-foot ditch. Conner died at the scene due to his injuries, according to police.
Area Police Departments Continue with Holiday Enforcement Effort
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, along with officers from the Plymouth Police Department, Bremen Police Department and Bourbon Police Department are out in force this holiday weekend to spot violations to Indiana’s seat belt and impaired driving laws.
Random patrols are expected along with saturation patrols and checkpoints. This overtime enforcement is supported with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) funds administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI). Continue reading
Driver Leaves Passenger at Scene of Accident
The driver involved in a Sunday morning accident fled the scene on foot and left the passenger in the car.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, a 2005 Acura was traveling westbound on Plymouth-Goshen Trail just east of Randolph Street shortly after 6 a.m. when it left the north side of the road for an unknown reason. The report states that a vehicle struck a utility pole and caused power lines to fall on the ground. The vehicle continued a short distance into a field where it came to a stop.
Large Gas Leak Reported after Accident
A large gas leak was reported in the 8,000 block of Union Road shortly after 3 a.m. Monday after the occupants of the home awoke to the smell of natural gas and recognized the sound of the leak.
Rollover Accident Investigated in La Paz
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and emergency responders responded to a single vehicle rollover accident early Monday morning.
Police say Timothy Ousnamer was traveling southbound on Michigan Road just north of U.S. 6 in La Paz when he lost control of his vehicle. His 2008 Toyota pickup went off the west side of the roadway and hit a large embankment, according to the report. The report went on to say the vehicle then rolled over on its top. Continue reading
Police Seeking Information in Bourbon Burglary
Detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department are seeking information about a reported burglary at the Back Forty Sporting Clays and Banquet Hall in Bourbon.
Police were called to the business at 1010 9B Road to investigate the incident. The burglary reportedly occurred sometime between 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29 and 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. According to police, some unknown person or persons broke into the business and removed a Daisy BB gun, a Crackshot .22 rifle, ammunition, and approximately $100 in cash.
