The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and emergency responders responded to a single vehicle rollover accident early Monday morning.
Police say Timothy Ousnamer was traveling southbound on Michigan Road just north of U.S. 6 in La Paz when he lost control of his vehicle. His 2008 Toyota pickup went off the west side of the roadway and hit a large embankment, according to the report. The report went on to say the vehicle then rolled over on its top. Continue reading
Detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department are seeking information about a reported burglary at the Back Forty Sporting Clays and Banquet Hall in Bourbon.
Police were called to the business at 1010 9B Road to investigate the incident. The burglary reportedly occurred sometime between 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29 and 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. According to police, some unknown person or persons broke into the business and removed a Daisy BB gun, a Crackshot .22 rifle, ammunition, and approximately $100 in cash.

A Bremen man who was reportedly found hiding under a farm tractor last week was taken to jail for possession of methamphetamine. On the morning of Sunday, November 5, a Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy says he saw a black Chevy pickup truck parked along U.S. 30, west of Iris Road at around 3:15 a.m. The officer says it was foggy, and the truck didn’t have any lights on, so he stopped to check on it. He says he didn’t find anyone inside, but he did notice “items within the vehicle associated with criminal activity.”
The chances of being involved in an automobile accident increase greatly around the Thanksgiving holiday season since more drivers are utilizing the roadways. Driving under the influence or failing to wear your seat belt can make matters even worse.
Although the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and Purdue University Center for Road Safety estimate that 93 percent of Hoosiers buckle up, last year more than half of Indiana’s fatal crashes involved drivers and passengers not wearing seat belts. Impaired-driving also did quite a bit of damage in 2016, resulting in nearly 2,100 injuries and more than 210 fatalities.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Plymouth and Bourbon Police Departments will join forces with more than 230 law-enforcement agencies across the state to spot violations to the Indiana seat belt and impaired driving laws. Two people were arrested following a traffic stop early Tuesday morning in Marshall County.
A Marshall County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a light blue Chrysler Concord passenger vehicle in 11,000 block of Veterans Parkway and U.S. 31 after the driver allegedly committed several traffic violations. Continue reading

The Indiana State Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency are holding the 14th Prescription Drug Take Back on Saturday October 28th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This service is free, anonymous and there are no questions asked. The initiative addresses the prevalent public safety and health issue of prescription drugs being obtained from family and friends in order to be abused or sold. In the past 13 drug take back events, the DEA and its partners have taken in over 8.1 million pounds of pills, which is more than 4,000 tons. Continue reading
Deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department recently completed a 25-day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over event where 24 citations were issued along with nine arrests.
The department joined 220 other law enforcement agencies across the state in the campaign effort.
Two Knox residents were arrested overnight Friday after a traffic stop in the area of Rose Road and Lincoln Highway in Marshall County.
Marshall County Police say a K9 searched the 2006 Kia passenger vehicle and indicated the presence of narcotics. Officers reportedly found two used syringes under the passenger seat, plus 3.5 grams of heroin hidden underneath the floor carpeting on the driver’s side. Other items of drug paraphernalia were also allegedly collected.
The driver of a moped died after colliding with a pick-up in a Thursday afternoon accident in Marshall County.
Marshall County police say Danial Osborn, of Plymouth, was traveling north on State Road 17 on his moped and negotiating the curve at Sycamore Road at 2:51 p.m. when Dale Leiter, of Plymouth, was attempting to turn onto Sycamore Road in a Ford Ranger in front of Osborn and the pair collided.
A two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon resulted in minor injuries to four individuals.
Marshall County police say 87-year-old Robert T. Matz of Orland Park, Illinois, failed to yield to an oncoming car driven by 27-year-old Samuel Schafer of Plymouth, at the intersection of Rose Road and Lincoln Highway.
The Plymouth Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received donations for their K9 programs with combined efforts from the American Legion Post #27 in Plymouth.

Marshall County emergency responders were called to a serious farming incident on Friday evening.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, county deputies along with the fire department, EMS and officers from the Town of Bourbon were called to a farm in the 3500 block of 9B Road in Bourbon. When they arrived, they found that Lester G. Sellers died after apparent injuries sustain after a tractor slipped a gear and rolled over him as he was working on the tractor, according to the release.
A Mishawaka woman was injured in a single vehicle crash in Marshall County late Thursday evening.
Marshall County police say Danielle Evanoff was driving north on U.S. 31 south of 5A Road when she left the roadway for unknown reasons. She attempted to correct the action, but lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle lost control, struck a cable barrier in the grass median and began rolling, according to the report. The vehicle came to rest on its top.
A three-vehicle accident at a busy intersection in Plymouth claimed the life of a Plymouth man.
According to information from the Plymouth Police Department, Samuel Bondranko, 54, of Vale, Virginia, was traveling east on U.S. 30 approaching Oak Drive when he turned his focus to a semi turning onto U.S. 30. The traffic signal had changed and Bondranko reportedly told police that he did not see that it had turned red in his lane of traffic. Police say Bondranko entered the intersection and collided with a car driven by Richard Kunkle, of Plymouth who was traveling south on Oak Dr. Bondranko also struck a vehicle driven by Timothy Evans, of Valparaiso, who was attempting to onto U.S. 30 from Oak Dr.
Charges are expected to be filed against inmates who were reportedly in a fight in the Marshall County Jail Wednesday night.
Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Plymouth Police Department and Plymouth EMS were called to the jail as a fight broke in a cell block. Police say before assistance arrived jail officers on duty successfully locked down all of the inmates in the cell block where it had occurred.
Four people were arrested Monday, after police reportedly found 53 grams of crystal methamphetamine at a Plymouth home. Shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers with the Marshall County Drug Task Force, Indiana State Police, Plymouth Police Department, and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at a home in the 7700 block of Rose Road.
The Labor Day weekend is filled with a variety of different celebrations including the Marshall County Blueberry Festival and the Monterey Days Festival. These types of events may lead to alcohol consumption. If you drink, don’t drive.
Four law enforcement agencies in Marshall County are in the middle of the state’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign through the Labor Day holiday. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Bremen Police Department, Plymouth Police Department and Bourbon Police Department have increased sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and saturation patrols in an effort to take impaired drivers off the roads. Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in the area of U.S. 31 and 19th Road in Argos on Wednesday evening.
Marshall County police say William Reese, 60, of Argos, was traveling west on 19th Road approaching U.S. 31 when he pulled across the northbound lane into the median. He reportedly did not see the approaching vehicle traveling south on U.S. 31 and pulled into the path of the vehicle driven by Donn F. Whitenight, Jr., 47, of Rochester. Whitenight, Jr. reportedly told police that he could not avoid the collision with Reese.
Both drivers complained of pain as a result of the crash and they were transported to a South Bend hospital.
A Nappanee man was airlifted from the scene of a motorcycle crash after Marshall County police say the driver led a sheriff’s deputy on a pursuit.
A Marshall County Sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop late Wednesday night in the area of Michigan Road and 1st Road when the motorcycle driver reportedly refused to stop. Police say the driver, Jesse Elliott, turned east on Tyler Road when a high speed pursuit began. Elliott later crashed on Tyler Road west of Lilac Road.
A Bremen man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly attempting to move a disabled car and disobeying police orders.
A Marshall County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of disabled vehicle on East Shore Drive at Dill Street in the Lake of the Woods area in Bremen. Police say Devon Zillmer arrived at the scene to drag away the vehicle as the deputy was on his way to that location.
