A number of local lakes are set to get some investment, thanks to the latest round of Lake and River Enhancement grants from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Bruce Lake in Fulton and Pulaski counties was awarded more than $32,000 for sediment removal.

Efforts to control invasive vegetation at a few Marshall County-area lakes have gotten a funding boost in the latest round of Lake and River Enhancement grants. The Four Lakes area of Mill Pond, Kreighbaum, Cook, and Holem lakes received $28,400 this year. Koontz Lake got $36,300, while Lake of the Woods was awarded $6,500.

Marshall County Highway Supervisor Jason Peters presented the proposed 2018 road program to the county commissioners Monday morning.
Peters noted that the list may change with how the roads shape up after winter operation assessments and flooding issues experienced in the county.
New Fishing License Season Starts Today
Indiana anglers need to purchase new fishing licenses. State-issued fishing licenses are valid from April 1 through March 31 of the following year. A valid license is needed to fish in public lakes, streams, rivers or tributaries in Indiana or its boundary waters. Continue reading
Marshall Commissioners Work to Keep Lake of the Woods Road Operating
Marshall County has declared a section of road in Lake of the Woods an emergency in a push to repair the issues causing damage.
It was learned Monday morning that the Marshall County Highway Department believes pipes running under a drain outlet along West Lakeshore Drive in Lake of the Woods has caused a sinkhole in the area.
