In a press conference held Monday afternoon, it was announced that a Marion County COVID-19 patient has died. The patient was a Marion County adult, according to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box.

Three children were killed and a fourth was seriously injured, while trying to board their school bus Tuesday morning in Fulton County. State Police say it happened in the 4600 block of North State Road 25. WNDU-TV reports that the kids were boarding the bus and the stop-arm was out, when they were hit by a pickup truck heading the other direction.

Indiana Governor Unveils 2019 NextLevel Connections Initiative
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb made a stop at the INDOT Plymouth Subdistrict building in Plymouth Wednesday afternoon to reveal plans in the 2019 NextLevel Connections Initiative. Those plans include internet connectivity, a trails project that connects the entire state, road improvements on U.S. 31, U.S. 20, U.S. 30 and I-69, international flights out of the Indianapolis Airport, a fourth water port in Lawrenceberg and South Shore double rail tracking projects.
Governor Requests Federal Assistance for Starke, Marshall Counties, Following Flood Damage
A request for a major disaster declaration for areas hit by February’s floods now heads to President Donald Trump. If approved, the declaration could open the door to grant funding for home and business owners in nine Indiana counties, including Marshall and St. Joseph. That could include money for temporary housing, home repairs, and loans from the Small Business Administration.
Governor Nominates Portions of Marshall, Starke Counties for Opportunity Zone Program
Portions of Marshall and Starke counties have been nominated as Opportunity Zones. The federal program seeks to attract private-sector investment to low-income communities through capital gains tax incentives. It was created under the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Marshall County Natives Graduate from Indiana State Police Recruit Academy
Two Marshall County natives are among the 33 new Indiana State Police troopers sworn in this week. Benjamin A. Beers of Plymouth and Timothy G. Borsa of Bourbon officially graduated from the State Police Recruit Academy during a ceremony at the State Capitol Thursday. It marked the end of 24 weeks of training in criminal and traffic law, crash investigations, firearms, and a bunch of other modern policing subjects, according to ISP officials.

Hoosiers battling opioid addiction have a new online resource to help them find the help they need. Governor Eric Holcomb announced the launch of Indiana’s Next Level Recovery website Monday.
